Technical Overview
How QR Codes Work
A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode. Unlike standard barcodes that store information horizontally, QR codes store data both horizontally and vertically, allowing them to hold significantly more information—up to 4,000 alphanumeric characters.
Wi-Fi String Formatting
To make a smartphone automatically join a network when scanning a QR code, the text must be formatted in a specific syntax recognized by iOS and Android operating systems. Our tool automatically formats your SSID and Password into this syntax behind the scenes:

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the QR codes generated here private?
Yes. This generator uses client-side JavaScript to create the QR code directly inside your browser. Your data (including your Wi-Fi passwords and private URLs) is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
Do these QR codes ever expire?
No. The QR codes generated by this tool are 'static' QR codes. They directly encode your text or URL into the image pattern. As long as the destination URL remains active or the text remains relevant, the QR code will work forever.
How does the Wi-Fi QR code work?
Wi-Fi QR codes use a specific hidden text format (e.g., WIFI:T:WPA;S:MyNetwork;P:MyPassword;;). When a smartphone camera scans this specific format, the operating system recognizes it and automatically prompts the user to join the network without typing the password.
Can I use these QR codes for commercial print?
Yes. The generator produces high-resolution PNG images that are completely free for commercial and personal use. You can download them and add them to flyers, business cards, or product packaging.
